Project Management and Marketing

I am handling the installation of a new solution that my company has imported from the foreign land. It is again related to the wireless coverage indoors. But the beauty of the system is that you can get wireless coverage on the same wires on which you are currently watching the TV.
Yes this soultion does not require the installation on antennas and RF cables.
The current cable netwrok can be used for the same purpose.

So after understanding the technology and acquiring the site i finally started the installation with my team of technicians and the RF Engineer. Among all the technicians Mr. Chandrakant is the most expereinced and the oldest person in the team. The solution was new, the equipment was new and still this expereinced persons thirst for understanding the system did not die. Comparing this attitude to the newly joined people, they hardly want to learn and they come to pass time.

While the system was being installed i was interacting with the people in whose premise the system was being installed. They were more excited than anyone else. Why??? Because now they will be able to make un interrupted calls from their offices.

Some of the problems i came across while installing the site were as follows:
1) Sourcing the material, the guys who had conducted the survey did not clearly mention everything in the BOM.
2) Getting the required permission to place the equipments in the room.
3) As the cables were being layed, i was constantly trying to understand the system. But finnaly i cracked the code.

Learning
Project Management skills: Managing a project required a lot of precise understanding of what is happening in the terms of the man power to be used, the resources required, and much more. You will always find some hurdles as you come to the completion of the project so be prepared with a plan B also.

This week i also met some top personalities in the construction industy. And after talking to them i realized why are they the CEO, MD, VP of their respective companies. More about my experiences in my nest post....bye for now...
